I never truly understood why he (Jack Black) said that.

Did he mean that Ann had unadvertantly set in the motion the events which gradually led to Kong's untimely death?

It is true that Kong could've escaped and ran away but where to? Could he have swam back to Skull island (even if he could find his way back)?

I think Kong realised that he was outside of his elements. He was King on his island. However out there in the manhattan jungle he was basically, a captive. It was fundamentally a situation that he knew would eventually head towards tragedy.

Kong was a not only a prisoner of circumstance but of love as well.

You could say the kind of love he had for Ann was primal. He offered protection and a beauty in his heart that is human. The kind that transcends form(?).
